BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kokomo High School product Bayden Root threw three effective innings, and departed with a three-run lead, helping the Kokomo Jackrabbits post a 7-4 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers in Northwoods League action Friday night.

Root, who threw in relief for the Jackrabbits two days prior, started Friday’s game and threw three innings with one hit, one unearned run, no walks and four strikeouts. Aaron Husson followed with three innings of shutout ball to get the victory. He allowed two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Kokomo put up four runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead and led the rest of the way. Logan Jarvis led the Kokomo offense, going 3 for 6 with a double and a run. Ben Livorsi was 2 for 4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run. Denzel Clarke also doubled, scored a run and drove in two.

Kokomo (6-5) plays at Battle Creek (3-8) again today at 7:05 p.m.
