Logansport's Penny to play hoops at IUK

Recent Logansport grad Will Penny will play college basketball at Indiana University Kokomo.

The Cougars are coming off a season where they went 26-8 and advanced to the second round of the NAIA Men’s Basketball Championships.

“I think IUK is a great fit for me,” Penny said. “I scrimmaged with them and really like how they play. It helps a lot that it’s close to home so my friends and family can make some games. IUK has a great campus and it is very nice. I’m very excited to see what the future brings.”

Penny, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 25.4 ppg his senior season at Logansport and finished second in all of Class 4A in scoring. He added 5.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He shot 52 percent from the field — 63 percent from 2 and 35 percent from 3-point range with 47 made 3s.

He scored a career-high 39 points in a win at Noblesville, 37 of which came in the second half.
