It’s amazing that I am on a diet, and by all rights, should be leaping at any non-cheating chance to shove some food in my mouth. Yet I occasionally run out of time to eat in the morning. That either leaves me bringing my breakfast to work or scarfing it in my car on my way there.

Tuesday morning was one such time.

I had an interview with some Strongman competitors at 6 a.m., and I was running late, so I grabbed a couple instant oatmeal packets and figured I’d eat when I got to work. After the interview, it dawns on me that I don’t have any means of heating water at the Trib, nor do I have a bowl to eat it out of. Frankly, finding a spoon in that place is less likely than finding Jimmy Hoffa.

Undaunted (read: hungry), I became Breakfast MacGyver and stopped at Speedway, grabbed two cups and filled one up with hot water. About two minutes later, I was sitting in my car mixing oatmeal in a 20-ounce Styrofoam cup with a spork. I am the picture of class.

The day sort of dragged on, but I made it to the gym just in time to catch Group Power at 6:30 p.m. A co-worker was at the gym, and I roped her into going to the class with me. Then I busted out some cardio and headed home.

The good news is the temperature at Powerhouse has decreased from thermonuclear back to relatively normal.

Wednesday morning it was back to the gym again. When Nicole said that it was going to be my “day of reckoning,” I thought she was kidding.

Then she introduced me to Juan.

If you’ve been reading, you’ll remember from Candi and Michelle’s blogs that a Juan is a set of 20 squats, 20 lunges, 20 step-ups and 10 squat jumps. It doesn’t sound like that much, but I was wiped after the first one. Juan No. 2 wasn’t near as pretty as the first one and Juan No. 3 probably took about six months to complete. Nicole pointed out that my entire leg workout was completed in under 10 minutes, so I guess Juan has its advantages.

Then we did some arms and quick abs and called it a day. It’s about 2:30 now, and I’m just biding my time until I can get out of here, head to the gym and go home and take a nap. I’m tired!
